Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Surgery is often just the midpoint of recovery, not the end of it. Whether you’ve had joint replacement, fracture repair, internal fixation with plates or rods, or another orthopedic procedure, the strength, mobility, and function you regain afterward depend heavily on the rehabilitation that follows. Quality Physical Therapy works closely with surgeons and patients to guide that recovery safely and effectively.

Our post-surgical programs are built around each procedure’s specific healing timeline and any precautions your surgeon has outlined. Early phases often focus on controlling swelling, protecting the surgical site, and restoring gentle range of motion, while later phases progress toward strengthening, functional movement, and — when appropriate — a return to work, sport, or an active lifestyle.

Because recovery pace can vary significantly from patient to patient, we track progress closely and adjust the plan as healing allows. Patients are given clear expectations for each stage: what movement should feel like, what signs may indicate a setback, and what a realistic recovery timeline looks like based on their specific procedure and starting point. That clarity helps reduce the anxiety that often comes with post-surgical recovery.

We also see patients before surgery when possible, since building strength and understanding what to expect ahead of time — often called prehabilitation — can meaningfully improve outcomes afterward. Throughout the process, our team stays in communication with referring physicians to keep everyone aligned on progress and goals. If you have an upcoming procedure or are already recovering from one, our team is ready to help you regain as much strength and independence as possible.
